We’re feeling very proud at Jobsite today after being named overall winner in the Inspiring Social Action in Young People category at Business in the Community’s annual Responsible Business Awards Gala Dinner in London last night!

The award was in recognition of our work supporting local based charity Music Fusion, which uses music to engage with young people from challenging backgrounds. In addition to financial sponsorship and business support, we have helped to create the “Words Not Weapons” video documentary, and our employees have volunteered to provide pro bono PR and Marketing support, CV writing help and interview training.

Here is Chairman of the Judging Panel, James Robey, explaining what most impressed them most about our work with Music Fusion…

The positive social impacts of our partnership have been especially rewarding…

  • Almost 50 young people were directly involved in shaping and supporting the Words Not Weapons programme.
  • Promotion has increased the reach of programme with more than 6,000 people now engaged.
  • 73 young people have stopped carrying a weapon and a further 24 decided against starting to carry a weapon as a result of the campaign

Many people involved with the project have now become Jobsite users, and around a third of our employees have volunteered or supported fundraising events, with our latest staff survey showing that 80% of employees are proud to work for us knowing that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is so central to the organisation.

Here are some of the Jobsite and Music Fusion team receiving the award from Joanna Lumley and James Corden last night…

…and you can watch two of the most successful Words not Weapons artists – Ebony Day and Blessed – on this video…
